Your Mission:
As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will lead a team of approximately 10 designers and architects to specify and deliver high-tech mechatronic system solutions for new products.
Your role involves ensuring optimal functionality and cost-effectiveness of these systems.
Responsibilities in this role:
- Feasibility Phase:
- Study Customer Requirement Specifications (CRS).
- Assess the feasibility and manufacturability of mechanical components.
- Definition Phase:
- Develop a description of system design requirements and specifications.
- System Design Phase:
- Generate and review system design concepts.
- Make well-considered choices validated against system requirements.
- Define high-tech modules and related technical interfaces.
- Monitor project adherence to agreed specifications.
- Use a helicopter view and creativity to resolve conflicts.
- Detail Phase:
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of approximately 10-15 designers/lead designers and architects.
- System Verification:
- Verify design requirements and chosen concepts.
- Production Release:
- Release the design for production.
- Contribute to system roadmaps.
- Participate in the development of essential mechanical competencies.
- Set priorities within the mechanical team and report regularly to the project manager.
- Coach and train junior and mid-level mechanical engineers.
- Provide direction on the Way of Working, including the use of V-model, PGP process, design reviews, and engineering change processes.
What do you bring to the table:
- BSc or MSc degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience as a mechanical engineer
- Experience with design principles, precise positioning, dynamic behavior, material characteristics, clean room environments, design for reliability, and vacuum design rules.
- Leadership and coaching experience
- Experience with planning mechanical development using tools like MS Project, preferably throughout the V-model.
- Experience with DfX (value engineering, producibility, cost of goods, reliability, serviceability).
- Knowledge of FEM calculations in thermal and mechanical designs.
- Proficiency in 3D design tools such as NX or PRO-E and Teamcenter.
- Experience with Matlab/Simulink or similar development tools.
